I heard the dirt rain on my coffin
Could feel the darkness settle in
Soon the worms would feast upon me
Final corruption could begin
My mortal coil was far too tangled
Human condition far too frail
So when the Devil rode out grimly
I made quick haste upon his trail
Then at a crossroads he did halt
My feet as if they'd taken root
He asked my business in pursuit
A glance exposing every fault
On my knees I plead my case
Apologized for the long chase
He listened calmly and then spoke
On the true nature of the world
Of all its horror hidden here
Mankind would never ever know
Places far beyond the light
No living souls should dare to go
Before my eyes a scene unfurled
A vision filled with dreadful fear
Yet in my breast, a flame awoke
And in my eye there welled a tear
I rose demanding immortality
And after many a long hour
Deep into the starless night
He shook his head with a sad look
Said he would grant my dying whim
Write my name in the black book
Forgoing any and all dower
Awareness never to go dim

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!!
